For many girls, the end of schooling does not arrive as a decision — it arrives as a cost the family can no longer meet. Our Bursaries for Girls programme covers those costs, so that a girl's education is not the first thing to go when money is tight.

In November 2018 we presented our Scholarship for Girls awards in Balagram — cheques placed directly into the hands of the students who earned them, with families, OfP staff and advisers looking on.

What a scholarship really buys is time — time before the big decisions about a girl's life get made for her, and the chance to keep her own options open. Bringing equity to education means making sure that being born a girl is not, by itself, the end of a school career.
